From our friend, Lynn Weisman: "
Yvette Monroe Korell Schneider, January 4, 1952 to May 22, 2024.
Our beloved Yvette, brilliant mind, National Merit Scholar, Terpsi, flawless French speaker, silly, and funny friend, lost her courageous and lengthy battle with Sarcoma. Her adored and adoring Harry Schneider survives. Theirs was an over 40-year true partnership of souls.
Remission in 2021 blessed Harry and Vette with nearly 3 glorious years of life in Asheville, North Carolina where she made and sold her exquisite stone jewelry when not travelling the world. When it returned, metastasized, late last year, it found her determined but weakened. It’s all over now. May her memory be for a blessing to all who knew her. May we all smile when we think of her and feel her extraordinary friendship and love. The photo below is how I will remember our friendship.
“Even the death of friends will inspire us as much as their lives. They will leave consolation to the mourners, as the rich leave money to defray the expenses of their funerals, and their memories will be incrusted over with sublime and pleasing thoughts, as monuments of other men are overgrown with moss; for our friends have no place in the graveyard.” Henry David Thoreau "

I don't really know how to comment on the loss of Yvette. I didn't get to know her in high school but shortly after we formally met at Lynn Weisman's house and became best of friends from that day forward. We were married from 1973-1980 and when we went our separate ways it was on the best of terms and we remained friends for the rest of our lives. I am glad she met Harry and had a great life. She deserved a great life. There is not one thing I could ever say that wasn't complimentary. Yvette was an amazing human being. She was not only intellectually brilliant, but creative, beautiful, loving, and very, very, caring about everyone. In life, we are fortunate to meet people who enrich our lives and bring love and wisdom into our midst. Yvette was such a person. She was always smiling, always positive, and always kind. I can't think of another person in my life with whom I never had a single argument...except Yvette. I saw her not too long ago when she was in Los Angeles and learned that she had been ill and was in remission at that time. I was so glad. I am still trying to wrap my head around how it came back and finally took her but all I can say is the world is much less of a place without her in it. My condolences to Harry. He is a wonderful person and I'm so glad he was there for her all these years. Blessings to you and to the spirit of Yvette, who will live on in our hearts. As we all age and reflect on our lives and all of our memories, I wish you all love. Lou

I'm so sad learn of Yvette's passing. I met Yvette the summer before high school when I joined the LA Junior Ballet, and we remained best friends throughout our high school years. We spent many a Friday night just walking and talking, baring our souls, and laughing. I'm sorry to say we slowly lost touch after that, but I was delighted to reconnect briefly after the reunion zoom. I will always remember her captivating, effervescent spirit.

So sad to hear of Yvette's passing. I remember fun times with Yvette, Michelle and Tinda. And oh so much dancing! Terpsies or folk dancing, there was beautiful Vette with her long hair and long legs--oh my, when she kicked -- it was amazing. Truly a grand battement! Thank you Lynn, for your tender testimonial. Yvette obviously touched many lives and made a difference.
